As Time Goes By

Here is what Jane had to say about this quilt...

"After my grandparents moved from their large farmhouse they moved to a small bungalow in town. My grandmother, however, did not leave behind any of her quilts or fancy work (sheets with crocheted edges or embroidered, fancy edged pillowcases.) Part of the fun of staying overnight was making up the bed just as I desired. While I was thinking of Grandma I couldn't help but think of her incredible garden. She had a collection of rose bushes which were given to her on special occasions by our large family. If the fabric line hadn't already had a name I would have named it Emma's Rose Garden.”

Jane adapted one of her previous designs, Gardener's Shed Tile, with soft ruffles and unpiped piping to fit the lovely florals of this new line of fabrics. The fit is perfect, and the quilt was just featured in Quilt Magazine. The kit includes the pattern and fabrics for the top, ruffle, borders and binding.

The Quilt Magazine mistakenly printed that the backing was included in the kit, but that is not correct.

Bev's Bed of Roses

This quilt, designed by our own Kathy Center, goes together really fast thanks to the large piece of extra wide floral fabric that creates the centerpiece of the quilt. You can choose whether to keep a simple, straight edge or whether to give your quilt that extra little flair that comes by scalloping the edge. Childhood Memories of the Farm

Jane grew up on a farm in Iowa, and this original design truly comes from her heart. The antique Giclee feature print is surrounded with piecing that flows right out of the picture. Children of the Past

Dominique Ehrmann has created some amazing works of art, one of which uses some antique Giclee prints from a book that belonged to Jane's mother. She was a special guest at our 15th Annual Outdoor Quilt Show, and her pieces spoke volumes about the creativity that is so much a part of who she is. The pattern includes instructions for both traditional piecing and foundation piecing. The kits are gone, but the pattern and antique prints are still available.

Dinah's Star

Many of you remember Dinah Moore, an employee and teacher at Quilting in the Country, who passed away this past year. Deb Frain designed this quilt in remembrance of Dinah, based on a challenge quilt that Dinah had made.

A Girl's Work Is Never Done

North Coast Limited

This quilt features a rare and collectible travel poster from a series of posters by the Northern Pacific Railway in the 1930's. The NPRR was called the "Yellowstone Park Line." Gustav Krollmann was a German emigrant who settled in St. Paul, MN and worked as a staff artist for the NPRR. He is recognized as one of the finest poster artists of his time and his original posters are highly sought after.

Jane had the poster printed on fabric and integrated it into a railroad tracks pattern of her own design. Her quilt was honored as the Photo Finish in the September 2006 issue of The Quilter Magazine. This issue also featured QIC's Day in the Country and Outdoor Quilt Show.
