Ruby Ruth's Twining Garden -- Glenda's Challenge
You may remember when Jane announced in 2009 that her block, Midnight Sun Garden, was featured in the 100 Blocks From Today’s Top Designers, she invited you to participate in a QIC Challenge. Glenda Mitchell took the challenge. She used the featured block and created a beautiful quilt. Glenda has won many of our challenges at Quilting in the Country through the years. Her creativity really astounds us. This time she used the Midnight Sun Garden block over and over in a medallion setting and then added hand colored leaves and vines. We think you will agree that her quilt is indeed a winning design!

Utility Quilts
The story as told by Jane.... "My aunt Florence made 100's of utility quilts (yes, really) and I have several of those. They are practical, sturdy quilts and in the west are called suggans or cowboy quilts. Aunt Florence just used the rugged scraps that she had but we concentrated on an update of those antique quilts. For the winter I hang antique utility quilts on my windows to keep the house warm. I layer an antique Utility quilt and crocheted tablecloth on my dining room table. Then I scatter objects from my sewing notions collection. It's fun to take a really good look at those items." We created this pattern set using the quilts from my collection as inspiration. The set includes 5 different designs with color photos. In honor of leap year and February having 29 days, we are going to offer the pattern set at 29% off this week. $10.00 |
